Cuba’s next generation

J.C. looks up while slicing cucumbers and onions in the Missouri Hick Bar-B-Q kitchen on Tuesday. J.C. has been working as a dishwasher at the restaurant for about a month and also cuts grass and firewood for extra income. He is proud of his financial independence: buying his own truck, paying for his own clothes and responsible for his insurance and phone bills. “Everyone thinks I don’t work for my money,” he said.
